Cesky Krumlov - Right Out of a Fairy Tale

Image
I am not sure I have the words to describe this small town in the Czech Republic close to the Austrian border.  We drove from Prague and made time to go through some small towns along the way.  We made sure to get lost at least once and to piss off Czech drivers at least a dozen times. Sonja got a chance to try "hot dog" soup. Everything I had read and watched about Cesky Krumlov could not show the raw feelings of awe that waved over us as we came into this town.  The festival going on, The Five Petal Rose Festival, is an annual event to honor the king that founded this town back in the 1400's.  Folks are in costume, there are shows with music, puppet shows and food.  Oh my gosh, the food!  We have eaten things here that we've never tried before and there was nothing we did not like. The pictures below are various shots around the town and the castle.  One interesting note about the castle... there's a moat around it that is dry and for all thes...

You MUST see Prague

In the travels we've done, almost every place we'd like to go back again.  And there are a few places that everyone should experience at least once in their lives.  Paris, the Cotswolds, Shanghai, Spain.  And add to that list Prague.  This city greeted us with open arms and simply enraptured us.  We fell in love during the first hour here and it never stopped. The Old Town Square We started our day with a walk to the Old Town Square and a view of the Astronomical Clock.  The first mention of the clock in history was in the 1400's.   The Charles Bridge Leaving the Old Town Square it was a short walk to the Charles Bridge.  This bridge, from medival times, was used by the king to travel from the square to the Prague Castle.  Walking over it, you can feel the history. One historical event that we all are aware of took place here... What's that?  You don't remember what happened here?  Oh, c'mon!  That's the bridge step...
